Type 2 GDS Vendor Installation Instructions

This vendor catalog is considered an InstallShield self extracting file. If the computer with the GDS system installed on it is not connected to the Internet, you can first save the vendor file to your Internet computer, then copy the vendor file to a floppy disk, and use this floppy on your GDS computer.

Make sure your GDS system is not running at the time you install a new vendor catalog.

Save to Your Computer, then Install.

Installing a vendor this way will save the selected file to your computer so that you can keep it for later use, or as a backup. Click on the Underlined Vendor Name in the Vendor Catalogs page. A window will appear with an option to either Save the file to disk, or Open/Run the file from the web. Follow the steps below to save the file to your computer.

    A.    Click OK to save the selected file to your computer. Select a drive or folder to save the file to -- do not save the file to your C:\EstWin folder. If you are not sure where to save to, you can select the My Documents folder from the list of folders under the Desktop icon.
    B.    Click OK in the Save window to begin downloading the selected vendor file to the selected location.
    C.    Once the download is completed you are ready to run the installation routine to install the vendor catalog.
    D.    To perform the installation, click on Start, then Run. From the Run window click Browse. In the Browse window you need to open the folder that you downloaded the vendor file to; for example, the C:\My Documents folder. You will see the vendor file name once you open the correct folder. Click on this file once, and then click OK to return to the Run window. Then click OK to run the selected file.
    E.    Next, a Welcome screen will appear showing you what you are about to install. If you have selected the wrong file you can click Cancel to abort the installation, otherwise click Next to continue and finish the installation.
    F.    If you have installed the GDS program into a folder other than the default location (C:\EstWin), the installation will prompt you for an installation path. You will need to click the Browse button on this window and either select or enter the path where the GDS program is located. Click OK to close this window once a path has been selected. Click Next to complete the installation.
    G.    Lastly, a prompt will appear saying that the vendor installation was successful. You will now see the selected vendor the next time you run the GDS program.
