GDS v14.1 Vendor Installation Instructions

Version 14.1 vendor catalogs are InstallShield self extracting files. You can download a vendor catalog to any computer connected to the Internet, or any mapped drive on your network. If the computer you are on now has the GDS system installed, you can simply click on the Download Now line in the vendor page and click Open or Run, to add the vendor to your GDS program. If the computer with the GDS system installed on it is not connected to the Internet or your network, you can first save the vendor file to your Internet computer, then copy the vendor file to a floppy disk, and use this floppy to install the vendor. You can also run the file from across the network to install the vendor.

Make sure your GDS system is not running at the time you install a new vendor catalog. Installing a vendor this way will save the selected file to your computer so that you can keep it for later use, or as a backup.

Click on the underlined "Download Now" button on the catalogs page. A window will appear with an option to either Save the file to disk, or Open/Run the file from the web. Follow the steps below to save the file to your computer.

    A.    Click OK to save the selected file to your computer. Select a drive or folder to save the file to -- DO NOT save the file to your C:\EstWinV14 folder. If you are not sure where to save to, you can select the My Documents folder.
    B.    Click OK in the Save window to begin downloading the selected vendor file to the selected location.
    C.    Once the download is completed you are ready to run the installation routine to install the vendor catalog.
    D.    To perform the installation, open your GDS v14.1 program and select any vendor. Click on the File menu, then click Install a Vendor. A window titled "Select EXE File to Open" will appear. This window will help you locate the file you downloaded.
    E.    This window will show the folders in your C: drive by default. Locate the folder you saved to and double click on it to open it. Any EXE files in that folder will appear in the bottom "EXE files" window. Click on the vendor file to install and click OK.
    F.    Next, a Welcome screen will appear showing you what you are about to install. If you have selected the wrong file you can click Cancel to abort the installation, otherwise click Next to continue and finish the installation.
    G.    If you have installed the GDS program into a folder other than the default location (C:\EstWinV14), the installation will prompt you for an installation path. You will need to click the Browse button on this window and either select or enter the path where the GDS program is located. Click OK to close this window once a path has been selected. Click Next to complete the installation.
    H.    Lastly, a prompt will appear saying that the vendor installation was successful. You will now see the open the vendor by clicking on the File menu then Open Vendor, or click the open folder icon on the toolbar.
