Installation instructions for downloading The GDSv14.EXE file is a self extracting InstallShield file that will install the GDS v14.1.8 program onto your computer. Click on the GDSv1418.EXE link or the CD icon on the previous page to begin downloading this file. If you have a fast Internet connection, you can Open (or Run) the file from the web and let the installation run from there. This way you aren't saving the file on your C: drive. The alternative is to Save the GDSv1418.EXE file to a temporary directory on your C drive (the My Documents folder is a good place if you are unsure where to save to). Use the Start - Run command, and browse to find the folder you saved the file to (or click on your My Documents icon if you saved it there and double-click on the GDS file). Open the GDSv1418.EXE file and click OK to run the file. Follow the prompts as they appear on the screen, and be sure to restart your computer if prompted. Next, you will need to download and install a vendor catalog in order to begin creating estimates. See the installation instructions in the Vendor Catalogs sections of the previous page for details. After installing the v14.1 program, double-click on the GDS icon to start the program. You will see a Company Information window. In this window enter at least your company name. To get familiar with the GDS program refer to the GDS Storefront Estimating Help in the Help menu. Open the Tutorial in the Getting Started section of the table of contents. Print this tutorial for a step-by-step guide to creating your first job. |
