- July, 27: The Alpha (test) version of the new GDS
v15 program is back on our web site. We have tested it more thoroughly and
made a great deal of changes since the last post of this program. The
program will now install in a folder called GDSv15 in your Program Files
folder. If you installed a previous v15 version, you will want to first
uninstall it, then install this latest version. You can also delete the
AlumiCalc folder from your Program Files folder after uninstalling the
original v15 program.
- 06-05-06: The Arcadia Architectural catalog was worked on
in order to fix some framing system part problems. We noticed that "part
number not found" errors were occurring in some of the framing systems.
These errors were corrected, but more work is needed on this catalog. We
will be contacting Arcadia to get an updated parts list to correct part
number and pricing problems.
- 05-05-06: The Tubelite
catalog was updated again with new parts and prices. Go to the v14.1
Vendor Catalogs page to see the notes about installing this catalog and setting your Tubelite
discount multipliers.
- 09-19-05: The Kawneer catalog was
reposted. The new catalog will show up as Kawneer 2005 r2 when you open it
in GDS. Apparently, the updated framing system files weren't showing up in
the previous download. You can install this catalog in addition to your
existing Kawneer catalog, and it will simply be added to your list of
vendors. If all of your vendor slots are full, you might have to delete a
vendor before you can install this catalog. Remember to backup any vendor
folder or files before you delete them.
- 08-05-05: KAWNEER
DETAILS have been added for the Kawneer
2005 catalog. Make sure you have the 2005 catalog installed before
installing these Kawneer details, as the details have been configured for
the framing systems in the newest catalog. Please note there are some
framing systems that we could not acquire details for. There are also no
preconfigured door details in any of the framing systems, but you can open
and print specific door details in the DWG folder inside the Kawneer Vend#
folder where you install the details. The file names on door details are
somewhat descriptive, so you can right click on the shopdrawing window in
GDS, point to Drawing and then click Open to manually open any DWG or DXF
drawing file. Also, see the Shopdrawing training videos on your GDS v14.1 CD
for further help with the Shopdrawing tool.
- 06-20-05: The YKK AP America
r2 catalog was updated with the YHC and YHS hurricane systems that were
missing from the first 2005 release. We also added detail drawings for the new systems
and the curtain wall systems that were previously listed. As usual, check
your bids carefully when you first use this catalog to make sure all pricing
and part numbers are correct. NOTE: You will need to download and install
the updated YKK Details in order for the drawings to work with the new
catalog. See the v14.1 Details page

- 04-12-05: NEW Update for EFCO
CORP. We received the 04-15-05 price update from EFCO and have updated
their catalog. Framing Systems and details stay the same.
- 04-12-05: IMPORTANT UPDATE: v14.1.86 was released to fix a
few bugs that were found.
1 - The biggest fix is the problem where the program would abruptly quit
after working on 8 or more elevations. This is no longer a problem.
2 - The sub sill and head can were getting cut wrong when multiple transoms
were used in a single elevation that was longer than the stock length. This
has been corrected.
3 - The Glass Description list when entering glass into an elevation was not
getting updated after changing the Glass Table when working on the same job.
This list is now updated when you close the Glass Table.
